About NBA Consortium Services

Formerly as the Government sponsored National Building Agency, and continuing as NBA Consortium Services, NBA has provided specialist services to local authorities, and other housing bodies, for almost 30 years.

NBA Consortium Services is the NBA 'unit' which - both before and since privatisation - has been solely concerned with the survey, documentation and assessment of housing stock: over a period of about 20 years it has surveyed - for a number of purposes, reflecting sequential priorities of Government legislation - over 3/4 million dwellings.

About 20% of this stock has been in private ownership - including that of housing associations - for which the purpose of survey and assessment has been, invariably, the determination of levels of unfitness, area action priorities and procedures.

The remaining 80% of subject stock has been in local authority ownership - since 1978 NBA's mainstream work has been the detailed survey, comprehensive documentation, preparation of computer data and repair programming of local authority housing - covering over 700,000 stock, in over 100 major studies.
